Wedding Dress Troubles

So.... My wedding dress is going to give me trouble.

A while ago, we went to David's Bridal and they were quite snippy and rude so we left without setting up an appointment to try on some dresses. I was convinced that I didn't want to do the whole trying on and modeling thing - it wasn't "me." Instead, my mother, grandmother and I were going to make the dress. We couldn't find a pattern that suited me. We left it at that and I searched around on the internet. Now, I'm pretty sure that I would like to buy a dress from a bridal store, but my grandma still thinks that we're going to unconventional route and making the dress.

She called me a few days ago and had me go online to look at this pattern. The dress in the lower, right-hand corner (blue) is what she wanted to show me. It's pretty, right? Absolutely. I'm worred, though, about it looking costume-y. I told her that we'd wait until the patterns went on sale somewhere to get it, but she "just couldn't wait" and went out to get it the next day.

How do I tell her that this isn't what I'm going for without hurting her feelings?

I have no idea.

Craft Supplies

Rain, rain go away.

Actually, I enjoy the rain. :] It's calming.

Yesterday, the fiance and I went to the store. He got some new shoes and I got some new fabric, poster boards and dough (for monkey bread tomorrow!). Kind of random, but that's okay.

I'm not sure what I'll be making, but I like 'em all the same. :D The top one was on sale, so I got a yard of it. The bottom two were not, but I love them together, so I got a half of a yard of each.

My Comfort Food

I love me some PB&J. Today I had a huge craving for it, only with Strawberry Jam instead of Grape. Delish.

It reminds me of when I was little, especially now because it is summer. I remember days when I would spend most of my day reading books on pioneers, flipping (and dreaming!) through the latest American Girl catalog, or just playing with my siblings. Mom would always have our PB&J sandwiches made and cut how we liked. (Stars, squares, horizontally...)

Unfortunately, now that I'm a little older, it also gives me a bit o' heartburn. Totally worth it, though.

Here is one of my favorite books to peruse. It has so many ideas for couples to try.

I've read all the way through but have forgotten much of the beginning because there is so much to read. I will definitely be re-reading this book many times over the years.

Romantic Picnic

Josh and I have been bickering a lot lately for some reason. I wanted to have a pleasant-er evening yesterday, so I packed us a picnic and we went to a nearby park to eat it.



Here's what I included for this simple and delicious basket:
* Cherries (for Josh - I don't care for them)
* Watermelon (for me - Josh doesn't care for it)
* Cheese & Crackers
* Non-alcoholic "wine"
* Pickles (Yum!)
* Brownies (not included in the picture - they were still baking.)
* Glasses, plates, napkins

Butterfly Bouquet

I saw this in the latest Martha Stewart Wedding Magazine - a butterfly bouquet! I am in love with this idea. I think I will do something like this, only with flowers.

Wedding Guests

Today Josh brought up the fact that he thinks we should invite a few "friends" that we don't regularly hang out with to our wedding. I said that we don't see them or hang out with them. He feels obligated/bad. Someone said that you should go all out and invite whoever you want for your wedding since it's going to be the only one you have. Makes sense, but.... we are poor?
